Imagine that you are talking with a colleague about an office-related project. You’ve both been assigned with the task of printing and publishing materials, but where do you start? While filling out some paperwork you take a moment to look down at the pen you are using – it’s the promotional pen used to promote a local publisher.
Promotional pens are used to meet a variety of needs. These needs range from trying to move a certain message or image out to the public, to saying thank you to a top client or investor. From smooth writing metal pens to more simple, capped ball-point pens, there is a message to be conveyed with them all.
Everyone is in need of a pen throughout the day, and everyone takes a moment now and again to look at their writing implement.
A great deal of information can be printed on a pen, even without making it cluttered. From bright, contrasting colours to a simple representation of a company logo or top consultant, promotional pens are an effective, yet subtle way of making one’s organization known.
Choosing the quality of the pen is a key part to designing your company’s promotional pen. Key questions such as, who is going to receive the pen, or what do I want the consumer/recipient to know about us, are important to consider. Would giving a cheap plastic pen to a top investor be a classy way of showing the company’s gratitude? I suspect not.
Even if the pens are going to be handed out on the street or at a fair, it is a good idea to see what quality of pen the company is handing out. Smooth and continuous writing is desired by all who use pens, and the pen that works best is the one that people will pay most attention to.
By breaking away from the mold of cheap plastic pens, your company can stand out and be remembered. This is not to say that everyone on the street needs a metal, hand engraved pen, but care in pen selection will help people recall the quality of your business.
More expensive pens can be a classic gift for those who deserve it. Better pens are often available in lower quantities than cheap, bulk items, and truly show devotion to a client. At the next important meeting or banquet, try giving the attendees a quality pen. They will always remember it.
