Choosing the Best Promotional Pens

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

Promotional pens are sure to grab the attention of people of all ages and backgrounds. After all, pens are always in need.

Give out promotional pens and you can definitely get the word out about a group, event, or message in no time at all, especially if you are creative and play around with different designs and looks for these products.

Following are a few tips about how to be unique in your promotional pen promotion.

Before you place an order, take the time to design eye catching and memorable pens. You should always think about the type of pen you want to promote or give away to people.

You my like to look into the many mix-n-match colour options. Choosing the colours of the barrel and trim can really made the pens look like they were manufactured just for you.

Click-type pens and felt-tip pens are as useful as the classic ball point pens. Think about your preferences when you design these promotional items. Would your customers prefer Rollerballs or highlighters?

You may also like to look into the styles and personalisation options offered by the name brands such as Parker, Cross and Lamy.  Some of the top quality pens can even be manufactured in your corporate Pantones.

The look and feel of the promotional pen is what will make it unique. Style is a big part of the look but so much comes down to the colours your choose and what you print on them.

It is also important to consider how you give your promotional pens away. You could give them to people who visit your trade show stand or give expensive gift pens to those who can answer an test question about your product range.

Always think about what you are trying to promote when thinking about how to give out these items. For example, if you are promoting a business, you may want to include coupons with the pens or to give them to people when they make a purchase.

If you are trying to get the word out about an upcoming event or concert, you could bust out limbo stick and give pens to folks who give the game a try.

The important thing is to take your time, plan your event and your pens and the excellent results will come.

Be creative with the design of your promotional pens so that they are eye catching and say what you need them to say. A pen is a useful tool when it comes to promoting or marketing something. Be creative with how you give out these pens so that people actually take the time to look at and save them. Unique promotional pens are an inexpensive investment, which makes them low risk, that is sure to get the job done.

Promote Yourself or Your Business with a Quality Pen

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

Quality ink pens are a classic symbol of refinement and intellect, while at the same time, everyone knows how to use one and you never need to explain why you would choose to give a pen to someone.

Pens are an instrument of communication. There is something special about taking pen to hand and preserving your thoughts onto paper. In particular, in the current age of digital technology, choosing to use a pen to compose a note signals to everyone that the note is something special.

When you give someone a well-made promotional gift pen, you are giving a piece of tradition. People have associated names such as Parker,

Parker Frontier pens

The beautiful and traditional Parker frontier pen

Waterman and Cross with fine writing instruments for years. Choosing to give a pen made by a company with a strong reputation reflects well on you as the giver. Choosing an inexpensive, poorly constructed pen will also reflect upon you, but not very well.

Say thank you to someone who has written a reference or a letter of recommendation on your behalf. It does not matter if the person used a computer to write the letter or even if he or she placed a telephone call.

Reward employees who write excellent proposals or memorandums with a traditional Parker or innovative new Lamy pen. Engrave the company’s name on the pens or make it unique by engraving the name of the project on the pens. The pens serve as a thank you to the specific employee for the achievement and make a statement to other employees about the value of written communication.

Pens are a great way to commemorate opening a new office. Lawyers, accountants and other professionals can promote their new ventures with engraved pens. Give away pens that people will want to use. When they use them, they will remember the services you have to offer. There is also a good chance that other people will see the pens and circulate the company’s name to a wider audience. Avoid using pens for the promotion that are so nice that people will store them away for safe keeping and also avoid pens that make people associate cheap or low quality with the company.

There are numerous ways you can use promotional pens to remind people of their past relationship with you as well as to try to establish new relationships for the future. Combine your imagination with the broad array of promotional pens and you will have the perfect gift.

Promotional Gift Pens Make Popular Retirement Gifts

Saturday, October 30th, 2010
The Lamy Dialog 3 Pens

The Innovative and beautiful Lamy Dialog 3 Pen - I love this

Retirement is a huge moment in a person’s life. After years upon years waking for the daily grind, this signals a new chapter in an individual’s day to day lifestyle. This is why it is important to honour and celebrate this moment with those who have reached this milestone.

If you are looking for a memorable gift to celebrate someone’s retirement, you should consider investing in promotional pens. These items are creative, memorable, and something that people will actually use.

Creativity is everything when it comes to giving promotional gift pens as retirement gifts. You can choose a wide range of brand name pens to personalise: everything from the traditional Parker to the new and innovative Lamy – a personal favourite!

Just about anything can be engraved or printed on the pens: from the retiree’s name to a funny saying and the name of their former job or company. Think about whether or not you want a funny or sentimental gift to give to your colleague/friend and also think about the colour and overall look of the promotional pen.

Promotional gift pens are useful, which is why they make such great gifts. Every time a person uses the pen, he or she will think about you and why you gave it to them. This makes it a gift that will definitely be appreciated and hold great sentimental value.

Why not give a gift that people can whip out from time to time than one that will be tossed in a closet and forgotten about? Your number one goal is to honour the retiring friend but let’s not forget that a simple logo on the pen will increase brand awareness with all those who see it.

Investing in this type of gift means that you will go the extra mile to show your work colleagues and friends that how much you appreciate them as a friend and work colleague. After all, once you personalize the pens, you can be sure that there are no other duplicates other than the ones you gave the retiree.

Promotional gift pens are useful and serve as both a gift and as a memento. Who wouldn’t want a pen that says their name or marks an important milestone like this?

Promotional gift pens can be purchased in small quantities. The best pens are supplied in attractive gift boxes. You may which to purchase as small quantity of say 25 and have them engraved for other important people such as top clients and employees.

3 Promotional Senator Pens Used in Three Different Ways at an Exhibition

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

Having been in the promotional pens business for 20 years, I have seen a lot of creative and – well – not so brilliant ways of using promotional pens. Case in point was at a recent exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham.

I was invited by a friend in the pharmaceutical industry to visit a trade show

Senator Challenger Icy Pens

The Senator Challenger Icy Pen

he was exhibiting at. Call me nerdy but I do like to walk around exhibitions and see how different companies promote themselves.

One of the larger brands caught my attention within a couple minutes of arriving. They had hired about ten exhibition models – women in slightly revealing printed clothing – who were handing out plastic carrier bags and hundreds of promotional Senator Super Hit pens to everyone who dared come near them.

As they did this, the actual company employees just looking on in their more conservative attire and really did very little. As they stood there on the stand, they watched as all their promotional merchandise was carried away by people happy to receive the freebies.

Was this increasing brand awareness? Perhaps.

Was it the best way to promote their brand and make use of promotional Senator pens? Certainly not!

As I continued around the show, I came upon a much smaller firm. There were two men and three women on the stand all wearing matching good quality logo embroidered polo shirts.

They too were handing out Senator pens which was a good choice as Senator is one of the best manufacturers of promotional plastic pens worldwide.

They were using the very popular Senator Challenger Icy Pen in their corporate colours: The barrel was navy and the clip was very close to their corporate green.

The pens were printed in green on the barrel and blue on the clip and I must say they really looked fantastic.

The staff on the stand were actively going up to people who walked by, engaging them and trying to suss out whether they were interested in the products they had on offer. The pens were in plain view for all to take but they were not just thrown away like they were on the other stand.

Often someone would take a pen and then ask questions about the company’s products and services. The pens were doing the very important job of attracting visitors to the stand and encouraging conversation.

Then I noticed the sales reps incorporating another well thought out strategy.

Everyone who came on the stand was able to take a Senator Challenger plastic pen away with them. Those who proved to be more in the position of becoming actual customers were handed the company literature with a large eco friendly jute bag and another pen.

I recognised it immediately as the Senator Solaris ball pen – one of Senator’s most popular gift pens. They made a real show of presenting the pen to their new found target customers by placing it immediately into a Senator gift box and then handing it over to them.

Being given these two additional and very nice gifts helped ensure that they would not be forgotten. The company was building its brand, attracting new customers and sussing out the time wasters from the prospects within a couple of minutes.

Who Needs the Mighty Sword When You Have Promotional Pens?

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

Promotional Senator Duo Pen

The Promotional Senator Duo Pen is a UK favourite.

How many times have you wished that you could stick with a prospective client after your initial meeting? Imagine the benefit of being able to remind them of your brand on a regular basis. Better yet, what if you could help them out when they need it most, presenting your company as a reliable provider of everyday solutions?

A good quality promotional pens can do exactly that. One of the most useful promotional materials available, printed or engraved pens are one item that is guaranteed to make it into the hands of your customers on a daily basis.

What’s more, a smooth writing, reliable pen is one item that no one ever throws away. This allows your company’s name, slogan and even logo to remain fresh in a client’s mind long after your meeting is over.

You can even use a pen to remind prospects, not only of your brand, but of your entire sales presentation. Use a pen with your logo to work up a quote, hash out an idea or diagram a concept; then hand over the pen along with the materials. Every time they use that pen, your customer will immediately be taken back to that moment when you presented a solution for their business needs!

Perhaps most remarkable is their versatility. Consider for a moment the wide range of customized pens and their potential uses:

1.The reliable and ubiquitous Bic stick pen is a universally appreciated item. A cup full of them in reception areas or at promotional events is an open invitation for people to spread your company’s name and logo for you.

2.Fun and colorful options from specialty companies like Senator Promotional Group are always a welcome addition to convention gift bags.

3.Large orders of pens sent to doctors’ offices, banks or restaurants have a way of making their way into the marketplace as clients and customers pocket the pens for future use.

4.A more substantial engraved pen from a prestige firm such as Waterman or Cross can lend gravitas and a sense of ceremony to a contract signing and can make a distinctive gift for loyal and lucrative accounts.

5.Promotional pens are even keeping pace with evolving technology as companies like Rely Media offer pens with built in flash drives.

As the world grows more and more hectic, the need to keep your brand fresh in peoples’ minds is more important than ever. With a personalized pen, you ensure that every time your customer encounters something worth writing down, they’re encountering your name at the same time.

That builds positive associations, increases awareness and boosts your company’s visibility. Whatever language your clients are writing in, that spells success!

Why Do Promotional Pens Get Such Amazing Results?

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

Of all of the promotional tools available today, promotional pens are certainly the most popular. The overwhelming success of the promotional pen–particularly when compared to the success of other promotional products–can be attributed to one simple fact: everyone needs a pen.

Regardless of a customer’s income level or employment, a pen is regularly needed and always unobtrusive. Where most promotional products,

Promotional Senator Hattrix Pens

such as puzzles, stuffed animals, and plastic novelties are more than likely going to be cast off into the trash immediately, good quality personalised pens are useful to a consumer in both their personal and professional lives.

The key is to know your target customer. For businesses with large customer volumes, such as hotels, restaurants, and banks, a large quantity of printed plastic pens will be your best bet. We all know how easy it is to stuff a pen in our pocket after signing a restaurant check or filling out a bank deposit slip.

As a business, you can take advantage of that tendency toward ultra-petty theft by ensuring that there are always quantities of your printed pens around. Additionally, remind your staff that whenever a customer asks to borrow a pen, simply telling them, “You can keep it,” can be a highly effective way of circulating your company’s logo to a new group of potential customers.

While promotional plastic pens can be a great idea for certain business sectors, they are not always the best option. For businesses that deal with smaller bases of higher-end clientele, the use of a plastic pen may be seen as cheap, and reflect negatively on your business’ image.

For businesses of this sort, engraved metal pens and even executive gift pens may be a better option. While these pens are more expensive per pen, a smaller customer base may even the cost gap. When dealing with a high-end clientele, a single high quality pen given to the right individual can be a priceless asset.

In a business environment where image is everything, the good quality pen is the one that will be kept and carried the most. In the right hands, an engraved metal or executive pen can be a potential conversation-starter about your business every time that pen is used, allowing your name and logo to reach countless other high-end clients.

Good quality plastic pens can do the same.

Additionally, pens can be given to employees as an award or incentive, providing both a token of appreciation for your staff and one more opportunity to increase brand awareness.

Why Do You Always Find Promotional Pens in Hotel Rooms?

Monday, October 25th, 2010
Promotional Senator Challenger Pens

The good quality Senator Challenger Pen is a very popular promotional pen

Have you ever wondered why you almost always receive a free pen or two when you check into a hotel?  The answer is that they make the guests’ stay nicer by offering a way to jot down memos and quite simply, they promote like few promotional gifts can.
Successful hotel chains usually offer a nice selection of branded merchandise. Many hotel guests will take some of the little trinkets like the mini bottles of shampoo and small bars of soap. Most of them will pocket the logo printed pens with the hotel name and contact details.

Whether it is the need to get a little something extra with the price you pay for a room or just a memento to remind you of a place you stayed during your travels, hotel management does not discourage guests from leaving with a few small items after their stay.

Basically, the advertising value of a pen kept with a customer far exceeds the cost of having to constantly replace them.

Promotional pens left in hotel rooms are expected to be removed when the guest leaves. There is no sign saying to please take the pen when you leave, but no one is going to complain when you do.  These promotional products keep the hotel brand in the hotel guest’s thoughts.

A pen used to promote a hotel probably only costs about 20 pence. They stay with the guest while they are traveling before being deposited in a drawer at home after the trip is over.

When it comes time to arrange another hotel stay, that low cost pen does its magic. Many people will pick up the pen and call the toll free number to make a reservation.

When the user of the pen makes that second reservation, it has kept the brand alive and encouraged new business for very little spend.

Another bonus is that most promotional pens have a long line of people who come in contact with them. Just like money might pass through many different people’s hands, promotional pens tend to get passed from person to person further building the brand of the hotel. This results in even more business.

Whether you are reading this article to promote your own small hotel, chain of hotels or any other industry, the fact is promotional pens work wonders.  Good quality promotional plastic pens such as those manufactured by Senator, Lecce, Prodir and Roubil are a good place to start.

The Top Quality Da Vinci Lucerne Rollerball Pen is Put to my 3000 Word Challenge

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

Today I have been testing the very attractive Da Vinci Lucerne Rollerball Gift Pen. Every day I write 2000 plus words with a popular promotional gift pen. I give honest reviews that I hope will help you find the best promotional gift pens for your next promotion.

Over the years I have sold a few thousand Da Vinci rollerballs but as we live in a computer dependent world I rarely write a lot with them, tending to lean toward the convenience of my laptop. That is of course aside from the multiple notes and messages I jot down daily.

Over the course of today, I have written four blogs and a few memos with the Da Vinci Lucerne Metal Gift Pen, far exceeding my 2000 word goal. I have not been disappointed but for a small complaint which I will touch on later.

Writing over 2000 words with one promotional gift pen over the course of the day, you get to know your writing instrument quite well and I am happy to say I have finally managed to do this with the Da Vinci Lucerne Rollerball!

This smooth writing rollerball is a pleasure to write with! It is both quiet and feels heavy and good in the hand like a top quality writing instrument should. When you are finished writing, the cap clicks right back into place.

The writing line is quite thick which many people prefer. It is a solid line that you only get from pens that are fitted with top quality refills.

Now lately I have been testing quite a few pens by Cross and I can assure you that the Lucerne gift pen holds its own. Although the Da Vinci Lucern gift pen is not a budget pen you can expect to pay substantially less than the equivalent Cross pen.

The Da Vinci Lucerne can only be engraved as ink will not adhere to the shiny, highly polished chrome finish. It is therefore important to consider this if you have a large logo or a lot of information you want on the pens. When engraving on the pen you are limited to a 30mm x 7mm engraving area. This is sufficient space for a small logo or web address.

After spending the day writing with this impressive gift pen I only have one small complaint. The cap that fits so well when the pen is not being used does not click into place when the pen is in use. It sits their comfortably but will fall off if you turn the cap toward the floor.

That is no reason not to consider this innovative and stylish gift pen!

Given all the positives such as the excellent writing quality, the attractive design and finish and the fact that it is supplied in a good quality gift box, you owe it to yourself to ask for a sample and try the Lucerne Rollerball.

The Da Vinci Lucerne Rollerball Gift pen is guaranteed to impress.

The Lamy Tipo Pen is Put to My 3000 Word Test

Monday, September 20th, 2010
Lamy Tipo Aluminium Pens

I tested the silver coloured Lamy Tipo pen pictured. Outstanding value for money!

Every day I like and respect the Lamy brand more.

For those of you who have not heard of Lamy Pens, then sit back and read this article. Lamy has gained cult status in the UK and Europe. Lamy pens are sold world wide and are some of the most innovative promotional pens available.

Today I have been writing with the Lamy Tipo pen. The pen I have in hand is manufactured out of iodised aluminium. The Tipo design is so popular that it has become necessary to produce a budget plastic version, a mid range aluminium pen and also an executive chrome plated stainless steel Tipo.

Whether you go for the budget version, the mid range aluminium pen or the executive stainless steel option, one thing is certain: They all feature Lamy’s famous top quality large capacity refill. The Tipo writes as smooth as silk just like every pen manufactured by the German manufacturer.

Every day I write four blogs which consist of around 3000 words in total. Lately I have been writing them first in Freehand with a different gift pen to test it for quality and usability. I could safely say that I would recommend the low cost Tipo gift pen I hold in my hand to anyone. It offers excellent value for money!

The Tipo rollerball is a cap-less pen which in itself is novel for a rollerball. Tipos all feature an integrated clip

Top quality Tipo gift pens

mechanism that clicks into place when the pen is in use. This makes the clip unusable until the refill is withdrawn. This way, the pen cannot be put into a nice dress shirt pocket until the refill is safely retracted into the pen barrel.

One think I really admire about Lamy pens is that they all feature such excellent quality refills. I recently wrote with the Lamy Dialog 2 pen which has a starting price of around £70.00 and I really loved the pen. This low cost Lamy Tipo which starts at around £10.00 features the same high quality Lamy made refill.

So whether you have a huge budget and can afford to give your clients the Lamy Dialog 2 or you just want to give them a top quality pen such as the Tipo plastic barrel pen which starts at around £3.00, you can always be assured of Lamy quality!

Lamy pens are all individually quality controlled and hand finishing is still an important part of the manufacturing process. They are also supplied in an attractive Lamy gift box as standard.

If you are looking for an inexpensive gift pen, then I strongly recommend looking at the Lamy Tipo range. Request a sample and you will see why I enjoyed writing with this pen!

Promotional Gift Pens – A Look at the Isis Grip Pen for Promotion

Saturday, September 18th, 2010
Promotional Isis Pens

Check out the Isis range at promotionalpens.co.uk

Looking for promotional pens that are not plastic and can be given away as a special gift? If so, then read on… The Isis Grip pen is a aluminium pen that looks fantastic and has a long writing life.

Let’s face it, we don’t all have massive budgets to send top quality gifts to all of our customer – as much as we may like to. Every day I take a new ‘gift pen’ and test it to see what it has to offer.  I write four promotional gifts blogs daily which I used to do only on my handy laptop. Lately I have been putting the gift pens I have sold for years to the test by writing each of my blogs first in free hand. This means that each of the pens I test is used for no fewer than 2000 words. Today I have tested the very popular, always requested, Isis metal ball pen.

Okay, in comparison to to other promotional gift pens I have tried it is not in my top ten. That is because I am also testing the top quality gift pens on offer by Cross, Parker,  Lamy and Waterman. But if you are looking for fantastic value for money in a pen that has a long writing life and looks great, check out the Isis Grip!

The Isis is a retractable metal ball pen that is available with four popular comfort grip colours – green, blue, red and purple.  the body of the pen is aluminium.

Writing with the pen I notice that it is really nice to write with even after my first 1500 words when my hand begins to get a bit tired. Most notably, the ink write smoothly over the paper.  I like it!

This pen is not the pen you want to give your top client unless you give them a few a say please let me know when you would like some more.  It definitly holds its own agains the top quality plastic pens on the market.

The Isis pen range

Colours that promote - The Isis range of pens

This make it a good choice for either large marketing campaigns or as a gift to your good employees and clients.

Today I have written well over 200o words with the Isis and it shows no sign of giving in. I would happily give this pen away at exhibitions, through mail shots and even along with my company Christmas card.

It is a smooth no-nonsense writing instrument that looks great and write just as well.  And at such a low selling price, especially in larger quantities it is exceptional value for money!

Don’t take my word for it.  Ask for a sample and see for yourself why I like this pen so much. Get them printed with your logo and let your customers know you for the quality pens you give away. They will speak wonders for your brand.
