What is the Point of Eco Friendly Promotional Pens?

Prodir DS3 Eco Pens

The Prodir DS3 Eco Pen - A smooth writer with lots of print area.

Why do people purchase eco friendly promotional pens?

They are certainly popular business gifts – requested often and used to promote businesses at exhibitions, conference, direct mail campaigns and in house.

I have read so many blogs and advertisements promoting the fact that you can show your customers how environmentally conscious you are by using eco pens.

What? Such statements are absolutely ridiculous!

Promotional gifts – whether they are eco friendly or not – are made to promote. They are simply a means to an end and that end is to get promoted and increase our profits.

If we can use promotional pens to that end then they have done their job.

There is no doubt about it that logo printed pens work. Many studies have shown this. If you are environmentally conscious, then you can choose one of the many promotional pens that are manufactured from recycled material or are biodegradable. Many are manufactured to very high standards – some are not.

At the end of the day, if you decide to use eco friendly printed pens, you want to choose one that is manufactured to write a long time and that you can trust to write smoothly.

Would you want to use a pen – eco or not – that is difficult to write with? Chances are, such a pen would be in a landfill biodegrading before it had a chance to do what you want it to do: promote your business and increase your profits.

If you like the idea of using eco friendly promotional pens, I can highly recommend the eco versions manufactured by Senator Pens, Prodir Pens and Lecce Pens. There are many others so it time allows, ask for samples and decide which is best for your business.

Senator Pens actually manufacture all of their plastic promotional pens with 20% recycled plastic. Senator is a very environmentally conscious manufacturer. They are the manufacturer of one of the world’s most popular eco friendly pens, the Super Hit Eco which is 95% recycled.

Lecce produce the budget EnviroStick pen which is 100% biodegradable. Prodir have begun manufacturing their popular DS3 pen with biodegradable material.

The key to success with any promotional pen campaign is to take your time, request samples and ensure you are happy with the pens you are considering ordering.

Check the colours which could be different to the pictures online or in catalogues.

Write with the pens and ask your work colleagues to do the same. Generally speaking, if you like writing with a pen, your customers probably will too.

Inspired By Nature – What to Look for in Eco Friendly Promotional Pens

eco friendly promotional ball pens

The EnviroStick is the world's first promotional pens manufactured from 100% post consumer waste.

Every week I am bombarded with news letters, email shots and phone calls from different suppliers around the world trying to get their eco pens featured on my promotional pens website. More often than not, they are not very ecologically friendly at all.

What point is there in having a promotional pen manufactured in China from ‘recycled’ Chinese plastic that was never used in the first place and then importing it thousands of miles. The ecological cost in fuel alone must make the pens about as eco friendly as my old 4 wheel drive jeep. Incidentally the Jeep is no longer driven and has been for sale for about three years.

I am not a tree hugging hippy who spouts out ‘green issues’ but many people looking for eco friendly promotional pens take this subject much more seriously. These people need to know what they are purchasing. Just because a pen is promoted as being eco friendly does not mean it is the answer to all things ecologically bad.

If your business is trying to promote the fact that you have a strong eco policy in place, then almost any eco friendly pens will help you promote that. Bic, for example, offer the Ecolutions range but some of these pens are only manufactured out of 37% recycled plastic. This means that 63% of the material used to manufacture these eco pens is just like the material used in every other non-eco pen.

I guess it is fair to say that any amount of recycled material used in promotional pens is better than none. I have used Chinese produced eco pens to promote my own company. If you are not as laid back about green issues as I am, however, this is what you need to do.

1.) Look for eco pens that are manufactured close to where you do business. The fewer miles they need to travel to get to you the better.

2.) Check out the new promotional pens available that are manufactured from post consumer waste. The Lecce Pen Company manufactures a range of pens that have been manufactured from used Tetra Pak cartons. These are the cartons that you see in the supermarket that hold fruit juice and long-life milk. One of their pens, the EnviroStick is manufactured from 100% post consumer waste!

3.) You may also be interested in the large range of pens now being manufactured from corn starch and other vegetable starches. These pens are biodegradable and will decompose when they are thrown away when their writing life is over.

4.) Beware of recycled plastic pens. Some are manufactured from post consumer plastics but most of the plastic used to produce them is simply plastic that was never used. CD case pens, for example are manufactured from CD cases that were either faulty or cracked but never actually held a CD.

If you are looking mainly for stylish and innovative designs with a touch of ‘eco’ to them then you will have thousands of pens to choose from. If the ‘eco’ part of the pens is more important to you. then be sure you know what you are purchasing before placing that order.

Do you have a favourite promotional eco friendly pen you use to promote your business? Please feel free to leave a comment and share your experiences or thoughts.

Quite Simply the Most Eco Friendly Pen in the World

Pens made from recycled Tetra Pak Carton

These eco pens are actually manufactured out of Tetra Pak cartons!

Are you looking for eco friendly promotional pens? Did you know that many promotional pens that appear to be eco friendly are about as eco friendly as a poisoned trout. They are manufactured out of plastic products that were never used in the first place.

One good example is the recycled CD case pens that are all the rage these days. When was the last time you recycled your CD cases? When CD cases are manufactured there is a percentage that do not work or break in the manufacturing process. These are the CD cases used for these ‘recycled’ eco pens. They never served any useful purpose and they are not biodegradable.

That is why I get excited when a truly eco friendly pen hits the market. I know how important it is to many of my customers that they promote their brands with eco pens. The EnviroStick pen is such a pen. In fact, it is currently the world’s most eco friendly pen!

It is manufactured out of used Tetra Pak cartons. You know the cartons that contain products such as fruit juice and long-life milk. I could get more scientific but that would be boring for too many. The main thing you need to know is that the trim, barrel and even the refill are manufactured from post consumer waste and they are also biodegradable.

The only part of this pen that is not recycled is the ink itself!

The EnviroStick pen is available with a white or black barrel and a choice of popular cap colours. The EnviroStick pen is manufactured by The Lecce Pen Company. It is a budget pen which writes well for what it is. If you are looking for higher quality eco pens that are also manufactured out of post consumer waste, you should have a look at some of the other pens on offer by Lecce.

The Re-Pen Stick Ballpen is a good alternative as it is also manufactured from post consumer Tetra Pak cartons but they do not have the recycled

The EnviroStick Pens

Manufactured with 100% post consumer waste!

refill yet. The EnviorStick is currently the only pen in the world that has a recycled refill.

You will also not be let down by the EnviroStick’s print area. There is a massive 45mm x 18mm print area on the barrel but it is only suitable for one colour imprints.

This could be a minor inconvenience for some and completely rule out using the EnviroStick for others.

Those of you who have multi coloured logos but still want a pen manufactured out of large amounts of recycled goods, I can recommend looking at the Biologo ballpen, the Biosense ballpen and the Biostick. Each of these are available worldwide and are manufactured out of recycled newspapers.

You may also be interested in looking into the large selection of pens that are now being manufactured out of cornstarch. These pens are manufactured out of corn and look and feel like plastic. They are also biodegradable so they will decompose when their writing life comes to an end.

Have you had any good or bad experiences with the pens recommended in this article. It would be great to hear your thoughts and experiences so please feel free to leave a comment.

Promotional Plastic Pens Brands-Which 3 Are The Best?

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010
Promotional Futura Pens

The Lecce Futura Pen is an excellent choice!

I know what promotional plastic pens write well and look great. It is my business to know this information. It is something I spend hours keeping up to date with so that my customers can come to me for advice.

It would be great if I could tell you which pens are the best in the country where you do business but that is not possible unless you happen to be in the UK.

What I can do is let you know which brand name promotional plastic pens are the best and are available worldwide.

They are Senator Pens, Lecce Pens and Prodir Pens. All three of these brands offer excellent quality plastic pens with large print areas at low prices.

Now that would be the end of my article if it were not for a few things I would like you to know about each of these well know brands in the promotional merchandise industry.

Senator Pens

Senator manufactures both plastic and metal pens. Although their metal pens are quite popular gifts, it is their plastic promotional pens for which they are famous worldwide. Many of their pens offer large capacity refills. Senator also produces two popular eco friendly options called the Super Hit Eco and the Nature Plus. Eco pens are the craze at the moment. My personal favourite Senator Pens are the Super Hit, Challenger and Dart Pens.

All are available in many different colours and finishes to compliment your corporate branding.

Lecce Pens

Lecce is a popular Italian brand. You can find their top quality promotional pens worldwide. Lately, Lecce has really taken the manufacture of eco friendly promotional pens to a new level.

Their EnviroStick pen is the world’s first promotional pen manufactured from 100% recycled material. Which Lecce Pens do I like? The question should be which Lecce pens don’t I like. The answer is none of them. This brand rocks.

I am sure you will agree if you write with them.

Prodir Pens

Prodir is know for its innovative styles. Unfortunately they are also known for their slow lead-times. Don’t even consider Prodir if you want your pens in a hurry. That said, if you have a little time before you need your promotional pens, be sure to check out all of the pens you Prodir’s range. You will love them.

Some suppliers have begun purchasing large quantities of Prodir so that they can be printed faster for you but for the best prices allow at least five weeks.

There are a lot of generic brands that are available but you will want to have a good supplier who really knows their stuff or at least allow time for samples. This is often easier said than done. It is a good idea to look for suppliers who have websites dedicated to promotional pens that have been live for many years.

Have you had a good or bad experience with any of the promotional pens mentioned here. Please feel free to leave a comment.

Biologo Promotional Pens-Raise Environmental Awareness with These Low Cost Recycled Ballpens

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010
Biologo ball pens

The Biologo pen - Go on... request a sample. You will love this eco pen!

Imagine this… You take a bunch of old newspapers, add a bit of water to make a fine mushy pulp. You then clean and de-ink the resulting goo and manufacture a nice pen out of it. Sound impossible? It’s not. Introducing the amazing low cost BiologoTM pen.

The Biologo will give you that little bit extra in your next eco friendly marketing campaign. It is part of a range of pens that are manufactured from recycled newspapers and cornstarch. You have got to see this one.

There is a choice of red, blue, green or light brown paper barrels. The clip and tip are white and manufactured out of a cornstarch product. This makes the pen not only recycled but biodegradable.

If you have a lot you would like to print you will not be disappointed. There is a large 35mm x 20mm print area on the barrel and a 25mm x 6mm print area on the cornstarch clip. Go ahead and promote the fact that the pen is recycled and print something like ‘I used to be a newspaper’ along with your logo and contact details.

Put simply, these push button promotional ball pens are excellent value for money. They will help you get the results you want.

A customer of mine recently contacted me looking for pens that were not expensive but were also eco friendly. Not long ago this would have been difficult to find. Most eco friendly pens were more expensive than normal pens but this is changing. People are demanding eco friendly alternatives to standard pens and this demand has brought the prices right down.

I recommended the Biologo to my customer and they were not disappointed. In fact, they were over the moon with the colour range and decided to purchase a few hundred of each colour to decorate their exhibition stand.

The Biologo pen comes with a black ink refill that is quite good quality for a low cost promotional pen. I am sure you will be impressed but by all means test me. Order a few samples and see what you think.

These promotional pens are excellent value for money.

Do you have an upcoming eco friendly campaign? Have I convinced you to give this pen a try? Samples are free of charge so you owe it to yourself to test this pen. Be sure to drop back and leave a comment if you wish to share your thoughts.

What Are Eco Friendly Promotional Pens?

Saturday, August 21st, 2010
eco pens

promotionalpens.co.uk feature the largest selection of promotional eco pens in the UK.

Would you consider a promotional pen with only 37% recycled parts to be ‘eco friendly.’ Bic do. Their Ecolutions Media Clic Grip pens are manufactured from only 37% recycled material.

Personally I don’t feel this is a bad thing. Any amount of recycled material is better than no recycled material. But if you want to run an eco friendly marketing campaign you can do much better.

Take for example the Super Hit Eco Pen by Senator Pens. This popular eco friendly version of Senator’s most popular budget pen, the Super Hit, is manufactured from 95% recycled plastic. The Super Hit Eco boasts a nice large print area on the barrel for your logo and other details.

Recently, the Lecce Pen company released their new EnviroStick Ball Pen. This budget eco pen is manufactured out of old recycled Tetra Pak cartons. You know, those cartons that contain fruit juice and long-life milk. The EnviroStick is the world’s first and still only pen with a 100% recycled refill. The only part of this pen that is not recycled is the ink itself!

Promotional eco friendly pens are definitely the new craze! You need to know what you are purchasing, however, before you start tooting the eco horn or you might get a bit of egg on your face.

Consider all of the promotional eco pens that are manufactured in the Far East. The styles produced in China are some of the most popular around. Many are produced using large percentages of recycled plastic. But if you really want your company to be seen as ‘green,’ you also need to consider how far those pens have had to travel to get to your office or trade show.

How much fuel was used so that you could have your eco-friendly pens?

If you really want to go green, look for pens that are produced as close to you as possible and are manufactured with large percentages of recycled plastic or biodegradable materials.

The Pilot pen company manufacture a range of pens that contain no less than 70% recycled matter. Prodir, the popular Swiss pen brand, has also recently released an eco version of its DS3 pen. You may also want to look into wooden pens or pencils. You can’t get much more eco friendly than pens manufactured in FSC wood from certified properly maintained forests.

I hope I have given you a little food for thought in your search for promotional eco friendly pens. Every year increasing numbers of good quality promotional eco pens hit the market. By the time you read this article a few or even hundreds more styles could be available. Ask for the information you require to ensure your marketing campaign goes as planned and of course as for samples.

It is always best to write with a pen before placing a large order. If you like writing with a pen, your customers probably will do to.

EnviroStick Eco Friendly Promotional Pens are Among the World’s Most Recycled Ballpens

Thursday, August 19th, 2010
EnviroStick Pens

Go on... ask for a sample of one of these eco friendly pens!

If you want to promote your business as being eco friendly, don’t just purchase any eco friendly pens!

Some of the most popular eco pens are hardly ‘eco’ at all. Take, for example, the Bic Digital Ecolutions pen. The pen looks great but it is only 37% recycled.

Now you may have looked into promotional eco pens before and been told that there is no pen available that is 100% recycled. True – but the EnviroStick is manufactured completely out of recycled Tetra Pak cartons. The only part of the pen that is not recycled is the ink. That makes sense, doesn’t it? The EnviroStick is in fact the world’s first and only promotional eco pen that has a recycled refill.

The EnviroStick is made by The Lecce Pen Company, a world leader in the manufacture of top quality promotional plastic pens. Their innovatively designed and smooth writing promotional pens have made the Lecce name famous in the promotional merchandise industry.

Have I got you interested? Then read on…

You know all those plastic and aluminium Tetra Pak drinks cartons that contain things like fruit juice and long-life milk? Well Lecce and Tetra Pak have worked closely together for quite a few years to develop a moulded material called EcoAllene out of cartons that were once considered to be waste.

That is as technical as I am going to get here but put simply Lecce is now manufacturing a range of pens, including the EnviroStick out of these recycled plastic and aluminium cartons and the results are amazing.

You can choose either a black or white barrel with a choice of cap colours. The cap fits onto both ends of the pen and has a small hole at the top to make it child safe. It is available with black or blue ink and can be printed with your logo in one colour on the barrel. there is a nice large print area of 45mm x 18mm.

So go ahead and imagine your next promotion with these truly remarkable eco pens. Whether that promotion is at a trade show or a mail campaign, your customers will get to know you for the environmentally conscious person you are. You could even go one step further and present your new pens in attractive recycled Tetra Pak wallets. Pens presented in stylish wallets really look the part!

So what are you waiting for? Give these promotional pens a try. Order a sample and write with it for a while. This may be a budget pen but it writes like pens that are substantially more expensive.

Do you have any questions? Have you used eco friendly pens before to promote your business or organisation? Perhaps you have tried the new EnviroStick Pen and would like to share your own review with others. You can do just that right here so please leave a comment.

Eco Friendly Promotional Pens-The New Craze!

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

Have you ever written with a recycled plastic pen? They have really come up in the world lately.

Promoting your business with eco friendly pens is hardly going to save the planet but it is an excellent way to show your commitment to ecological issues. Before you jump into placing a large order for corporate eco pens, however, let me offer you a bit of information that could help you choose the right pens for your marketing.

Not all eco friendly promotional pens are as eco as you may think.

The Bic Digital Ecolutions pen, for example looks fantastic and writes smoothly just as you would expect a Bic pen to write. It is, however only 37% recycled.

Other Bic ‘Eco Friendly’ pens are manufactured with a little more recycled plastic but they are by no means 100% recycled.

In contrast the barrel of the popular Senator Super Hit Eco Ballpen is manufactured with a whopping 95% recycled plastic. This is about as good as it gets.

Look around and you will also be introduced to pens that have been manufactured from vegetable products. These are all biodegradable and will therefore decompose if you decide to stick them in your flower garden. If you use them as they are meant to be used they will still discolour over time as they slowly but naturally decompose.

If you don’t want this to happen, don’t purchase biodegradable pen.

I actually had a customer who contacted me almost two years after she purchased biodegradable pens to complain that they we decomposing. For best results, keep the pens in the boxes they are shipped in until you are ready to use them.

Wood is one of the most natural products used to manufacture pens. There are some very attractive varieties that you should check out. Some are top quality wooden gift pens where others are attractive budget eco pens. Try to ensure that the wooden pens you purchase are manufactured with wood sourced from well maintained forests.

Always consider where your eco friendly pens were manufactured. Recycled plastic pens manufactured close to where you do business will be much more ecologically friendly than pens manufactured thousands of miles away. Consider the fuel needed to transport Chinese manufactured pens to Britain. If using ecologically friendly products is important to you, purchase pens that do not need to travel long distances to get to you.

Eco pens are the new craze. As they become increasingly popular many more new designs will hit the market. You owe it to yourself to see what is out there.

So then, what are your thoughts? Are you considering using promotional eco friendly pens in your next marketing campaign? Perhaps you have found a pen you really love and would like to share? Is there any information about promotional eco friendly pens you would like me to write about? Please leave a comment.

Same Day Express Promotional Pens – An in Depth Look at The Panther Ballpen Range

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Let’s say you are asked to speak at a conference last minute, as in tomorrow.  You go to your promotional gifts store room and find everything has long gone.  You want to speak at the conference but you also want to ensure you leave the attendees with something to remember you by and also to take a few notes.  The Panther Pen is the answer!  This fantastic good quality plastic promo pen is so popular is never leaves our printing machines.  One order after another is printed and hundreds of thousands are despatched each year printed one colour in time for last minute events everywhere.

In order to have your pens ready the same day your order, you will need to place your order and send your artwork or typesetting instructions by 9.30am so that the job can be scheduled in by the 10:00am Same Day Express deadline.  By same day, this means that your pens will be printed up to one colour, sometimes up to two colours that day ready to be despatched that evening.

So what is the Panther range all about and why is it so popular that it needs to be on the express printing machine day in and day out?  Here I would like to tell you this and go into detail about the four different Panther range options that are in stock and awaiting your printed logo and details.  By the way, the barrel has a nice sized print area of 40mm x 20mm and there is an additional 20mm x 4mm print area on the clip for your logo and details.

The Panther Extra:  This version is by far the best seller of the range.  This click-action retractable ballpen is available with a white barrel and your choice of solid black, yellow, green, red, navy, white orange or translucent turquoise trim on the clip and nose cone.

The Panther Frost:  This fantastic looking pen is available in transparent blue, red, green clear, yellow and orange.  If you are looking for translucent pens, this one should definitely be on your list.  In addition to the see through barrel, it features a satin silver trim on the clip and nose cone.

The Panther Eco:  This eco-friendly recycled plastic pen looks identical to the Panther Extra and it is available in a large selection of colours which you should really check out.  If you are considering an eco-friendly last minute promotion, here you go!

The Panther Colour Eco:  This recycled plastic pen is available in solid green, silver, red, navy or white.  These solid colours are exclusive to the eco version and not available in the standard Panther.  This is a sign of things to come.  More and more people are demanding eco pen options and this one looks great.

It is worth noting that the Panther pen can be printed in two, three or even four colours if time allows.  Generally speaking, you will need to allow at least a week and up to three weeks for delivery if you require more than one print colour.  The lead-time really depends on how your promotional gift supplier is set up and whether they specialise in express printing promotional ballpens.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like prices or if you would like to see a sample. As always, please feel free to leave a comment.
